Economic Programme (Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah)
Background
Economic Programme (Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah) was YBK sosio-economic for hardcore people in the one of the hardcore poor resettlement called Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah. The programme was funded by Malaysian Government through Ministry Of Rural & Regional Development. The ministry had allocated RM486 thousand for the programme in order the YBK to planned and implemented for every household to plant honey guava and vegetables, to establish of collection centre for oil palm and sewing workshop for the residents. These project would able to generate extra income the residents.
Honery Guava
YBK had planned every household to provided with 6 plants of special Honey Guava. These plants supposed to be planted in their house compound. The planning was after 8 months the plants would be able to produce quality fruits which can be sold to the public. This activities would be able to help every household increase their income through the sales of the guava
Vegetables Planting
This programme was to supply every household with good seed of vegetable. Every household should plant vegetables on their own house compound for sells or own consumption.
The vegetables planting activities would facilitate the member of household with economic ectivities beside sources of good food for family consumption.
Collection Centre Of Oil Palm
YBK also funding of establishment of collection centre of oil palm as economic activities of the residents of Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah. The centre provides facilities for weighting apparatus and storage for oil palm.
The centre provide facilities for resident surrounding to sell their oil palm. It was government regulation, only authorise agents can buy oil palm for the plantrers and the centre will sell to the factory for the processing. The centre eventually surrendered to Resident Coperative called Koperasi Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah Berhad
Sewing Workshop
YBK had planned adn sucesfully trained 22 house-wife and single mother in sewing trainning. The tranning session took 6 months to complete before every trainne ready for sewing activities.
During the tranning period, every trainee had been paid daily alowances. After 6 months 16 of them were working as a full-time in the workshop and had benn paid on piece rated. The workshop was originally owned by YBK was undertook contract jod in uniform making. It was succesfull programme because every single workers who are working in the work-shop earned RM400-RM500 a month.
After number of months YBK surrendered the workshop together with all the machine equipment to the resident coperative so called Koperasi Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah Berhad
