BACKGROUND       

Poverty Eradication Foundation (YBK) was set up and registered in March 1990 under the Trustee Act (Incorporation) Ordinance, 1952. The foundation was launched in April 1990 by YB Tan Sri Muhammad bin Muhd Taib as a founder. Since its inception and till today, the founder has entrusted the chairmanship of the foundation to Dato' Hj Zainal Abidin Hj Sakom. YBK is a private and independent foundation. In step with this status, YBK tries to be self-reliant in its financial resources and carries out its programmes and projects to eradicate poverty with dedication, sincerity and objectivity

YBK has set its aim and mission to eradicate absolute poverty in Selangor by year 2005. So after declaration by the State Government, Selangor has become new industrilised country YBK had announced new mission Towards Prosperous, Progress and Zero Poverty Country.

To achive fopundation's target, YBK has intensified its modus operandi of working together with government departments and agencies such as Ministry Of Rural And Regional Development, Ministry Of Education, the Selangor State Religious Council and the District Offices. In addition, YBK also works closely with private sector and NGO's

Board Of Trustee

The core of the foundation is the board of trustees who has been given the responbility to see that the mission and objectives of the foundation are achieved. They are made up of volunteers who are politicians, businessman, and active and commutted individuals who are active and committed in their work eradicate poverty. A Chairman and the board members who are appointed for a team of two years by the founder and patron head YBL run the foundation. In addition, volunteers are also appointed as advisers for specific jobs

Target Group

YBK`s target group is the hardcore poor family, defined as a family of five whose monthly income is not morethan RM400.00 (RM90.00 per head). This is the official defination of absolute poverty used by the government using

• Direct to target group or hardcore poor or poor family
• Collaboration with ministry and other government agencies and NGO's
• Through participation in government policy formulation through meeting, seminar and workshop

In order to realised all mentioned objectives, YBK had planned, implemented and monitor Social-Economiy and Education-Trainning Programmes.

SOCIO-ECONOMY PROGRAMMES

• Houses rebuilt for hardcore poor family who lived in improper and not suitable for living
• Develop resettlemenrt for hardcore poor family who had no house for shelter
• Conduct economy programmes such as income growth, business aids and guides
